Mount Kyeburn

Mount Kyeburn is in the Otago district, near the town of Naseby. It's a very Scottish region and they also have one of New Zealand's only curling rinks (which is quite a novelty here!)
There was also a food and wine festival this weekend with some excellent food.
Brad spent the weekend golfing, and also went to the a New Zealand amateur's golf tournament to watch- which is being held at his home course (Russely) and has some of the world's best amateur golfers.

Mingha-Deception (Cath) & President's Cup (Brad)

Yep, that's the trail.

Mingha-Deception is a really beautiful (but really rugged) route that follows the Mingha and Deception Rivers. There are 35 river crossings in total! (Luckily they were no deeper than waist deep this weekend- but that can change a lot based on rainfall). Between the two rivers sits the Goats Pass hut- and it sure beats tenting when the temperature drops to 5 degrees night!

Brad was in the highly anticipated President's cup golf tournament on Sunday. This tournament has 16 golf teams from golf clubs in the Christchurch area with handicaps from 10-20. Unfortunately the game was not completed because one of Brad's team mates (Peter) had a sudden heart attack, and was pronounced dead on the course. It was a sad and shocking moment for Brad as he had played with Peter on several occasions.
