Hoon Hay

Llamas

Yesterday I went hiking in the Hoon Hay Scenic reserve, just south of Christchurch. It was a gorgeous day and it actually felt really hot- spring is definitely here! (The winter sure went by fast). Small sections of the trails were destroyed during the earthquake(s) by giant boulders and landslides, but overall everything was in pretty good shape. I was supposed to be on a kayaking course this weekend- but it was cancelled because the pools are closed and the ocean is contaminated from sewage pipes bursting.

  1. Hi Lovey!!! Your pictures and you look WONDERFUL!!! Your adventures continue and I pray you are safe. Sounds like the weather has changed to spring there!!! The Llamas are they from someones herd?? I guess wool is the best export they have--from the sheep & Llamas.

  2. Looks beautiful. Those crack photos in the last post are pretty interesting. It must've been scary being in that earthquake, but it's good no one got too hurt. I'ts good to be in a country that's prepared for earthquakes.

  3. Yes, the llamas are domesticated. Some of the land where the trails are has been donated to the department of conservation for recreation.
