Side creeks

On Saturday I did a brief training course on how to help beginner kayakers (in preparation to help out with the upcoming beginner's course). I am not sure how much help I will be- but it should be fun! The water levels were really high on the Hurunui river, which meant they were also high on some of the side creeks. One of our group members decided  to run this waterfall (about 6 meters high). I thought I would pass on that for now!

  1. That's a very narrow side creek! I imagine it would have been breath-taking for the person that dared to run it!!!
    You are looking great Catherine!!

  2. Thanks! The water doesn't look that clean compared to the main river. Supposedly when the rivers & creeks go into flood after a long dry spell the E.coli levels (and other things) in the water spike from all the livestock manure that's been sitting around. It's been flooding for a while though so I think at this point it's ok. (Hopefully- because I sure got a lot of water in my mouth!)
